Review of Goodnight Mommy (2015) by Adam H — 11 Oct 2015
Goodnight Mommy is a difficult film to review, not because I don't know what to think of it, (I loved it actually) but it's difficult explaining what I thought if it without giving away major plot points and twists. Goodnight Mommy is an Austrian film that is marketed very poorly. This film is being marketed as a cerebral horror film filled with supernatural elements and jump scares galore. What Goodnight Mommy actually is is a downright twisted and sometimes extreme suspense thriller that is smarter than anything in the genre and is also smarter than most films in the past decade! Without giving anything away, Goodnight Mommy is a film that stays in your head and haunts you while refusing to leave! I saw it 4 days ago and I'm still arguing with myself over what happens! Some images in the film will stay with you just as long as most iconic films of similar genres! I recommend that everyone avoid the trailers and go into this film knowing only that your mind will be violated and that you'll want to experience Goodnight Mommy more than once! This is easily one of the best films I've seen all year! Also, try to not see this film alone because when.
This film is done, you're going to want to talk about it with someone and heavily debate about what you both saw!
