Review of Goodnight Mommy (2015) by Scott P — 15 Oct 2015

I really wanted to like this film. It's beautifully and competently shot, the acting is solid, and the director does a great job of creating tension and dread. But what I can't forgive is the fact that the "twist" was painfully obvious from the very start, and I spent the entire film saying to myself "please don't let it be this kind of movie" while the film was trying to convince me it was something else entirely, only to arrive at the place I had known from almost the very start.

It is beyond frustrating when a film thinks is more clever than it actually is.
