Review of GoodFellas (1990) by Wesley W — 05 Dec 2013
This movie kicks ass. This was an absolute gangster classic from start to finish. Everything from the writing, acting, directing, and visuals are all very good contributing factors in this masterpiece.
Ray Liotta, Robert DeNiro, and Joe Pesci all give fantastic performances here and this film was a high point in all three of their careers. Joe Pesci really deserved his oscar that he got for this movie and I certainly thought the other two actors were oscar worthy as well.
In my opinion, this film is probably Martin Scorsese's best film and this is certainly one of the best mob movies ever. Him and Nicolas Pileggi wrote such an amazing script that is full of fantastic dialogue and there were never ever any poorly written lines.
Martin Scorsese has such a keen eye on both the story and plot because they were so intriguing and engrossing on screen. The characters were all interesting to watch from beginning to end and I actually cared about them.
The visuals were grand and the film was shot very beautifully. Godfathers 1, 2, and this in my opinion, are as good as a mob or gangster movie could ever get. It is weird that this film only won one academy award.
This film for sure is one of the most entertaining and rewatchable films of all time and it is one of my favorites.
