Review of GoodFellas (1990) by Alexander R — 02 Feb 2014
Scorsese really doesn't seem to believe in editing, and his over reliance on narration only highlights his inability to tell a story without heavy handed dictation. GoodFellas is full of interesting characters, events, dialogue and laughs.
The acting is great, the cinematography crisp. It's really in the editing where GoodFellas falls flat. It's a slow paced rambling collection of laughs and scares. There's an element of gangster glamorizing here as well that I am sure will amuse some.
