Review of Goodbye Solo (2009) by Liam P — 05 Aug 2009
This strong film from Ramin Bahrani identifies his continuing growth as a really important American director. From his very good first film, Man Push Cart, he has made leaps and bounds with this film, a fantastically moving investigation into friendship and hope.
Featuring a sensationally charismatic performance from Souleymane Sy Savane and a painfully sad one from Red West, this is a lovely film and a sure sign that Bahrani potentially has a significant masterpiece in him as a director.
