Review of Goodbye Solo (2009) by Mark C — 25 May 2010
This is one of the best movies of 2009; directed by Bamin Bahrani (Man Push Cart, Chop Shop). This movie is a story about a young black man, Solo, a cab driver, who picks up an older man white man as a fare and how he becomes friends with this man.
This relationship develops into an akward but substantial friendship. Solo is an energetic and an eternal optimist just filled with life, while the older man is very quiet and subdued and seemingly nearing the end of his life.
Both actors turn in great performances and Bahrani is simply one of the best young directors working today.
