Review of Goodbye, Mr. Chips (1939) by Brad V — 07 Jul 2008
Another reason why 1939 was perhaps the greatest year in movie history. This film is charming, heartbreaking, and uplifting. Robert Donat gives one of the best performances, aging from 20 to 83 over the course of the film.
Greer Garson and Paul Henreid's parts are limited but their talent adds a whole lot to this great movie. A tip to those interested in seeing it; bring a box of tissues with you.
