Review of Good Will Hunting (1997) by Parker J — 25 Aug 2012
This is an emotional movie about how frustrating it can be to watch intelligence go to waste. A truly brilliant mind is discovered in an unlikely place, a blue-collar janitor with absolutely no ambition.
It is very hard to watch as his lack of drive and underachieving friends land in him bad situations. Everyone around the troubled genius pushes him to pursue a better life and use his gift, but it is not easy.
It is a rough haul trying to get through his troubled past, extreme insecurity, and short temper. Matt Damon and Robin Williams are simply amazing. Skarsgard, Driver, Affleck and the rest of the supporting cast are good but Williams and Damon truly make the movie.
The characters and dialogue are really enhanced by the great acting. These are such strong characters and the story is compelling as well. It is a noteworthy and memorable movie that I highly recommend.
