Review of Good Will Hunting (1997) by Rhys G — 20 Nov 2012
The screenplay follows a template, but is brimming with interesting characters and searingly honest dialogue. However, the material may have slipped into melodrama and sensationalism in the hands of a lesser director.
Van Sant directs the material with confidence and ease, letting these insanely talented and dedicated actors do their thing. And that is why the film packs such a brutal and emotional punch.
