Review of Good Will Hunting (1997) by Jason K — 19 Apr 2013
One of my all time favorite movies! Matt Damon and Robin Williams flow together extremely well on-screen, not as if they were just two actors working together, but like two characters with extraordinary depth and development.
Damon and Driver have a great romantic chemistry. Gus Van Sant enlisted himself among the ranks of my generation's great directors. I love how Ben and Matt write such a brotherly relationship between all of the friends, ironically primarily in the case of Ben and Casey who use their relationship as brothers in real life to propel the characters and help the viewer understand who they are in the group and what they mean to the story.
Matt Damon's amazing star-making performance. Better than his other performances in some of his other truly amazing films even the likes of "The Bourne Identity" and "The Departed." I always love it when actors get to use their true accents in their films.
I was also very impressed with the writing skill from Ben and Matt with them having been such young stars. A real cinematic gem that ceases to lose it's luster and dramatic efficiency!
