Review of Good Will Hunting (1997) by Austin D — 24 Mar 2015
I truly love Robin Williams as an actor after watching Good Will Hunting. The movie follows the emotional story of a janitor that works at Harvard school and is extremely smart but as his past emotions come back to haunt him, he becomes confused with the direction he wants to take.
Matt Damon and Robin Williams play the main characters, Will and Sean, and are perfectly cast in these roles. The two have the best chemistry out of pretty much any movie I've ever seen. It's crazy.
These two have pasts that haunt them and sort of plays a factor in their understanding for each other. The stories of how they were treated when they were younger were tragic and really messed up. How Will was beaten with a wrench as a kid is really wrong and depressing.
The conversations that Will and Sean have are part of the reason why I love this movie. They tell really relatable stories and can really touch a certain audience. The acting really throughout the whole movie is really good.
Ben Affleck and Minnie Driver are the big standouts. The movie is pretty funny too, whenever Will is with his friends, I was laughing quite a bit. It's funny how this film is able to be really dramatic and emotional but make you crack a smile every once and a while.
As for the ending of the movie, I was thinking "you know what would make this movie really awesome? If Will went to California to be with Skylar" (spoiler alert) I'll just say I loved the ending! The music, the atmosphere, the dialogue of that ending was just perfect.
Good Will Hunting is an inspirational, relatable, funny, emotional, and awesome movie. A.
