Review of Good Will Hunting (1997) by Carson T — 13 Oct 2015
Good Will Hunting is a true masterpiece in my own eyes and has become my favorite movie of all time. Good Will Hunting doesn't need to have any gimmicks to make it special.
As far as what exactly make Good Will Hunting so special is actually not obvious at first. There isn't one thing that sticks out in this movie but is instead just overall such a solid piece. However after watching this movie year after year I can put my thumb on some of the aspects in this movie that does make it work. One positive of this movie was Matt Damon, he didn't just act as his character but became his character. This is because of Damon's understanding of his character, this is because Damon created his character. Matt Damon knew exactly what he was trying to create and was able to display it perfectly in this movie. Matt Damon is only complimented by Ben Afflecks, Robin Williams, and others roles. The development of the characters also work so well, none feel forced and it actually creates some suspense.
This movie also had a certain it factor to it. This movie has an undeniable it factor that connects to the audience like no other. This is created by the environment and attitude this movie creates. This movie sucks the audience into its own world and works so well.
In conclusion Good Will Hunting is a must watch and a true classic that will continue to change lives just like mine.
