Review of Good Will Hunting (1997) by John R — 17 Nov 2015
This is one of my favourite all time films and a film I would describe as one of the best modern films. The fact that it was written by both Matt Damon and Ben Affleck at relatively young ages makes it even more of a cultural masterpiece.
Whilst I will admit it follows a similar arc to other narratives, it doesn't stick to the same cookie-cutter formula and it doesn't ruin itself trying to be more artsy than expressive. This is a very entertaining film that is easy to follow but still has an attention to detail and a charm that makes it both unique, and entertaining, even after repeat viewings.
9.5/10.
