Review of Good Night, and Good Luck. (2005) by Kenny M — 13 Dec 2009
"Good Night. And, Good Luck" is one of the best docu-drama's of all time. With vivid imagery mixed with dialogue and video taken directly from the time of McCarthyism the film puts you in a time that mirrors our own decade with fear and paranoia. I can't say anything more except that you must see this film.
Story: 10/10.
Setting: 9.5/10.
- The settings and cinematography is beautiful while being limited to CBS's studio, a banquet, and a few 'film' settings.
Characters: 9.5/10.
- While covering the major issues between Mr. Murrow and Senator McCarthy, we also explore the times of the 1950s, sexism within corporations, and the devotion to something worth working toward.
Music: 10/10.
- Not needing a large orchestral score, George Clooney's choice of using a African American woman 'recording' a hit album within CBS and incorporating it within the film's transitions gives it a clear and perfect flow.
Education/Historical: 9/10.
- The film depicts one side fully as it explores the dangers of the 'other' side. While not covering all the issues it does explain the struggles in gathering 'all' the information that goes into journalism and political expose.
Total Rating: 48/50 or 96/100.
SEE THIS FILM NOW! Sit back, enjoy something warm, and reflect on a nation in fear, it shouldn't be too hard.
