Edward R. Murrow (David Strathairn) is a crusading broadcast journalist who begins to editorialize against the witchhunts of Senator Joseph McCarthy. The plot of this film focuses on the lead-up to the famous showdown between McCarthy and Murrow on an episode of See It Now.
Good Night and Good Luck, directed with style and panache by George Clooney, may be excessive in its thesis about how Murrow's reporting ultimately led to McCarthy's downfall. However, this movie is still a well-acted drama that allows history to come alive.
