Review of Good Night, and Good Luck. (2005) by E L — 26 Jul 2012
With its vintage atmosphere and pitch-perfect black-and-white cinematography, the movie makes a good use of George Clooney's crafty hand and engaging script. While it deals with real-life people and is set in real-life time and space, it shows a dramatized account of a journalistic rise and its battle to overcome political domination.
With its controversial insinuations, and much influential appeal, it begins a tense, dialogue-driven war for the truth, no matter what consequences there might be. Crooked politicians attempt to change the country's position, and the only way to stop them is through the right to free speech and the power of the press, so perfectly used by Edward R.
Murrow, one of the most iconic newsmen in American history. The film remains provocative and intriguing, and definitely marks Clooney's rise to directorial stardom.
