Review of Good Night (2008) by Matt D — 01 Aug 2008
An odd film its clear that Jake Paltrow got his sister to invite old friend Simon Pegg on board who in turn managed to rope in Martin Freeman to lead this film. The problem here its a good idea but lucid dreaming has already been covered in Michel Gondry's Science of Sleep which is a superior film to this.
However the lucid dream sequences are technically great the problem with this is all the characters are either pathetic, sleazy or just plain unlikeable save for the brilliant Danny DeVito as the lucid dreaming expert and Jarvis Cocker as himself.
I also enjoyed the music and variety of the soundtrack but all in all it was a little all over the place.
