Review of Good Morning, Vietnam (1987) by Trey D — 01 Feb 2012
Though a knowledge of the pop culture and politics of the "Nam" era are needed to understand much of the film's humor, the film works well as a drama just based on character and story. Also, it's nice to find a film that doesn't make U.
S. soldiers on a whole look like savage pigs but doesn't praise the war either. It leaves the audience to judge the war but shows us the normal people who risked their lives from day to day. It also shows us the innocent Vietnamese who were caught in the middle of the conflict and presents them realistically and very sympathetically.
All in all, this was a very good film that was well acted, well scripted and well filmed.
