Review of Good Luck Chuck (2007) by Russell G — 25 Aug 2012
There is nothing fancy about this one. It is highly predictable and very clichà (C). Luckily it sides closer to the comedy part of the spectrum and has less on romance side. It is simple but lighthearted, but should have been funnier and should have been more fun.
Dan Fogler and Dane Cook did a pretty good job and provide all of the laughs but with two guys this funny I was hoping for much more. Jessica Albaâ(TM)s character is overly simple and is reduced to being eye candy, which is too bad, because I think she is capable of a little more.
The concept of the curse to have any girl you sleep with get married the next day had loads of comedic potential and the cast seems right, but it just fails to deliver. They squandered the strong concept and took it nowhere.
They become overly focused on the Cook and Albaâ(TM)s relationship that they forget to infuse funny side stories and things going on around them. The story is flimsy and there are not enough laughs to make this one go.
