Review of Good Kill (2015) by Threeayem — 09 Apr 2015
A film that needed to be made, but it also needed to be made a bit better than it was. Short on realism and subtlety, much of the opportunity to make a truly gripping film about an important yet difficult subject was lost.
Too much was wrong for the experience to be engaging, from the shamelessly fake-looking drone footage to the shamelessly fake-sounding calls to the CIA and the shamelessly fake-feeling work scenes. It's still a watchable, if slow, film - and one that is fundamentally salvaged by its important and apparently unique subject matter.
