Review of Good Kill (2015) by Angela C — 16 May 2015
Its well intentioned and you can absolutely feel that Andrew Nicol truly cares about the subject matter which is why it is all the more disappointing. Its not nearly as engaging as it should be. Main problems are how its shot (everything is a tight close up) and it is too dialogue heavy (every piece of conversation sounds like pre-written speech- coming across very inauthentic).
Good Kill engages your intellect but not your emotions. Sure the subject matter involves the desensitization and depersonalization the pilots experience but you don't have to put the viewers at a distance in order to show that.
