Review of Good Kill (2015) by Brandon W — 13 Sep 2015
After The Host, I thought that Andrew Niccol screwed up big time and he can never make a good film after that, that is until Good Kill comes in 2 years later and turned out to be a really great film that I'm surprised that we haven't made much films about what it's like to control a drone.
Ethan Hawke gives a gripping performance that is basically his own movie. The main character is very developed that makes you either feel sorry, or question him for the things he has done. January Jones is pretty good, and her character is very realistic of what she does.
It's very thought-provoking, and it does very well in showing the horror in war that does give a perspective of why other countries think United States are terrorists. When it shows the drone scenes, it's very frightening of seeing the other countries be controlled by us, and it looks really realistic.
The script is very well written, although there were times that the scenes gets bit too slow. As is, Good Kill is a welcome return to Andrew Niccol that hopefully doesn't do Stephenie Meyer adaptations next time.
