Review of Good Hair (2009) by Kyo 9 — 29 Nov 2009
I learned and laughed a lot. Very well done. It struck pretty close to my heart. I never realized straight (Indian) hair was the epitome and I thought wavy was the most sought out hair in the early 2000s and now curly hair is the best (maybe I'm projecting).
I found the struggle and social relations associated with weaves and black hair in general really interesting and I'm so glad Rock made this documentary -- it opened my eyes to another side of the world (and yes, I'm a black woman). Only critique: The black hair show that tied everything together was very interesting, but I think the interlocking aspect should have had more to do with Hair and less to do with Show.
