Review of Good Hair (2009) by Danielle M — 13 Mar 2010
Marvelous educating piece about the significance of being born with black hair and a woman, and how that fact will make you spend your entire life trying to get your hair changed.
In this documentary Chris Rock looks for an answer to her daughter after she asked him why didn't she have "good hair". He reviews the humongous industry of hair care products, torture sessions of relaxers, kiddie perms to 4 year old girls, the secrecy of weaves, how the small hair business are imbricated to the community, but it's the big companies which are keeping the money of this multimillionaire industry. And more.
I was so unaware of all of these, I am already thanking Heavens for giving me just small vanity problems to deal with.
