Review of Good Hair (2009) by Aslyn E — 09 Sep 2010
This is a fun doc by Chris Rock on black women and their weaves/hair straightening tendancies. It's actually really interesting and light hearted enough to be enjoyable.Sidestepping the more serious issues may not be morally all there but it makes for a better viewing for me so I like it! Rock explores why black women want straight hair, where it comes from, why so few of black hair businesses are black-owned and interviews a range of famous/everyday black women (and some men) to weigh in on the subject with often funny results.
It's not a film per-say so don't sit there with popcorn expected a rip-roaring extraveganza but treated as a "tv special" it's great stuff. Really opened my eyes up to a topic I was always curious about.
Your secret's out black women!!! Got to say Nia Long has still got it boy!!!! and Lauren London is looking a great dish as always. Raven Symone can piss off though.
