Review of Good Hair (2009) by Sooty M — 13 Nov 2010
WOW... this is probably the best-funniest documentary I've seen since I don't know when. The interviews in this movie were eye opening jaw dropping LOL funny. I have to admit though, not all would find some of the things said in this movie very funny, especially if they can personally relate to what's being said, so proceed with caution.
In this film, Chris Rock boldly points out some of the most controversial things most of us wouldn't have ever known about concerning what it takes to achieve good hair. The content of this film is so in-depth that Chris travels all over the world revealing the history, criticisms, the good, the bad, and the ugly struggles behind what it takes for Black Women to achieve the desired consistency of their hair.
Just to reiterate what I said earlier, this movie was very humorous and the punchlines from those who were interviewed had the theatre rocking with laughter. This was not at all offensive to me, but I must warn that some people take offense to the littlest things, so I have no doubt some viewers may be disturbed at what Chris reveals.
But for me, I had tears in my eyes because I was laughing so hard at the dialog. I highly recommend viewing this movie in you are in the mood to LOL, and in my opinion, its best seen with a larger group.
