Review of Good Hair (2009) by Juan D — 19 Feb 2010
If anyone thinks this is surface level comedy doco. Especially having watched it. Think again.
"Woven" in amongst the Spinal Tap-esque Hair Show Competition is a real insight into choices made by black culture and the impact it has on a world that prides itself on reality.
It's about politics, economics, race, culture, physicality, psychology and more. I'd recommend a double bill of this and Black is, Black Ain't.
Cracking Film.
