Review of Good Dick (2008) by Kervin S — 13 Jan 2010

Had this entire story not revolved around soft porn then I would've enjoyed it so much more. Admittedly, it was a very off-beat, indie romance that did have something sort of special about it. Like I said, were it not for the driving subject matter/plot, this would be one that I would certainly watch again. Jason Ritter was complete perfection in this. I adored his character! I know some would probably consider his unrelentless persistance towards the main girl in this movie to be creepy and stalkerish, but to me, I just found it t be unbelievably cute and endearing. I like a guy that doesn't give up on what he wants and Jason's character certainly never did. Everything he said made me smile in this film and it made me want to see Jason Ritter in more movies.

"I love you and this fight is over.".

What a great way to handle a situation that is escalating! If a guy were to tell me that in the middle of a mild fight, it would certainly make me stop, laugh and hug him. So adorable. Believe it or not, there were some very sweet and innocent moments in this film. And Martin Starr - I love him! I remember him from the days of the television show "Freaks and Geeks" and though his role in this was quite small, I still really enjoyed him. He definitely added something to this movie.

So, overall, a really original, indie, love flick that I only wish wasn't centered around adult films. Because if it wasn't for that, I'd be giving this movie a much higher rating.
