Review of Good Bye, Lenin! (2003) by Rochelle S — 09 Jun 2008
Beautiful comedy about the fall of Socialism and the re-unification of Germany. Manages to make you smile throughout most of the film but without detracting from how moving the story is. My personal favourite part had me in fits of the giggles, watching Alex's(Bruher) confused staunch socialist mother(Sass) completely unaware of the collapse of her beloved communism watching a statue of Lenin being removed through the air by helicopter.
A must-see for anyone interested in the history of Germany or Socialism and generally a nice light-hearted film, has easily become one of my favourites =).
