Review of Good Bye, Lenin! (2003) by Iain S — 13 Sep 2008
Every minute is worth it. Alex is so endearingly self-deluting. He loves his mother in the purest non-creepy/Oedipal way. You REALLY should know something of German history before you watch it though. I thought I did, and it turns out I didn't have a clue, which made parts difficult to follow.
I also love that it wasn't a political statement (as far as I could tell) but showed politics as a deeply felt belief system. What it should be, by the way. Just saying.
