Review of Good Bye, Lenin! (2003) by Charlie F — 13 Dec 2008
I think the most interesting part of this movie, is the nostalgia evoked over the disappeared East Germany. In common media we've been always been depicted of East Germany as a terrible place to live, and this movies shows us those little details, which also were nice about it.
Also the story of a son taking care of his mother is a foundation strong enough for a good story on its own, making the combination of both a great story. The execution and cinematography is also quite good, particularily the scene that gives its name to the movie.
In summary, this is a really good movie with a clever story, which shows us a bit more about Easter Geramany than we're usually told.
