Certainly original. Funny at times too. Interesting commentary on the costs and benefits of living in EITHER East OR West Germany; of course it's always worth remembering which side people were running to when the wall finally came down.
Anyway, in trying to fool one person, someone else ended up living a fantasy, and perhaps that provided the soft landing more than one character needed at the end of this movie. I enjoyed it but a half hour or so could have been clipped out.
