Review of Good Bye, Lenin! (2003) by Hardy C — 20 Jun 2012
This is a very charming German movie (and my second favorite after the wonderful Lives of Others). Essentially it's a love story between a woman for her country and a son for his mom, using the extinction of East Germany in 1989-90 as its setting and rationale.
Lies play an important part in this tale, however, depicted in a way to make us realize that spoken lies and silent lies are often necessary to make love survive.
