The political and social upheavals in those few months would have been very difficult for most socialists in East Germany living in that time to imagine, let alone live through. This fine film brought many issues to the surface and addressed much of it through Alex's (Bruhl) consideration and love for his proudly socialist ailing mother.
I highly recommend this. The humor added a good spin to the whole movie.
