Review of Gonzo: The Life and Work of Dr. Hunter S. Thompson (2008) by Josh B — 12 Jul 2008

Really should be 2 1/2, but it is about Thompson, so that makes it pretty good, hard to fuck that up. But the dude does.

Here's what sucks about the movie:

1. Throughout the whole thing there's some shitty "iconic" (read: hackneyed) 60s pop song playing. Not one minute for sure in the second half of the movie where there was just people talking, always has to have some shitty song playing.

2. Johnny Depp reading holding a gun. What the fuck? Pirates of the Caribbean 4? I want to read holding a gun. This review, gun toward Alex Gibney's head.

3. Were interviewees so scarce that the movie needed like 30 minutes of PAt Buchanan? Sorta interesting, but so fucking much? Give me some John McClouchlin.
