Review of Gonzo: The Life and Work of Dr. Hunter S. Thompson (2008) by Holly M — 14 Aug 2008

This is the first posthumous look into the life of Hunter S. Thompson, and I think its pretty insightful yet also quite comical as well. The film does a good job of providing Thompson's perspective on many major events of the last forty years of American history.

Fortunately there is a lot of archival footage of Thompson, and this movie showcases it well. Also showcased in the film is Ralph Steadman's art, which is amazing. Maybe another Oscar run for Gibney, but I don't know.

There is never a whole lot of speculation into the best documentary category.
