Pretty much a perfect documentary considering the subject. Hunter S. Thompson has got to be one of the best possible people to do a biographical documentary on. The guy was absolutely crazy (in an interesting and functional way), addicted to every drug possible, self loathing.
.. yet oddly easy to relate to and identify with. If you usually don't watch biographical documentaries; this may be an exception to the rule. It is done in a very experimental fashion; mixing footage of Hunter, retelling of his writing and narration by Johnny Depp, and archival footage from some of the issues he was involved with.
It all adds up to quite a brilliant and moving portrayal of Hunter's life. This is definitely recommendable especially if you are not familiar with Hunter S. Thompson... then this is a great crash course.
