It works on some levels, but leaves something missing. I'm not sure what, exactly. The film is slightly confusing and randomly-spliced (an obvious homage to Thompson's work). The content, however, is quite interesting.
If you want to know more about Thompson--not only the work but the insane individual himself--then you should check it out. It is worth the ride even if you have no clue who the poor crazy (brilliant) bastard was.
A great pick for junkies of literature, politics, and American (sub)culture.
