Review of Gone with the Wind (1939) by Keenan S — 12 Aug 2011
My second favorite romance film is this towering epic called Gone With The Wind. Even today it's vast scope and ambition is staggering, especially considering it manages to be so perfect since in this day and age, epics generally go wrong because they can't weave their elements together.
The performances by the late Vivien Leigh and Clark Gable are superb, and even without the stunning performances by all the other actors, they would still carry this film to great heights. I know there are people who complain that it is too long, but I couldn't disagree more.
This film clocks in at nearly four hours and yet I was never bored and time just seemed to fly by as I got caught up in this amazing film. It's truly spectacular in every way.
