Review of Gone with the Wind (1939) by Zack S — 02 Apr 2012
I just revisited this film today after talking about it with a friend of mine, just on the subject of Rhett Butler. Not the Technical merits of the film, the acting, ect. Just one charcter..Rhett. SO I plopped the movie in the DVD machine and sat down for 4 hours and was taken away.
This is one of the greatest movies ever made and could not be duplicated today. Just no way. It was the first time that I saw it in 10 years and I remember everything, every scene, like it was yesterday.
That is how monumental this film is. the four hours flew by. And yes, I did get a little misty eyed during the last half hour. Not because of scarlet losing Rhett, no...She deserved that. She was an opportunist and reminds me of a couple of women that I knew in the past.
I misted because everything was put together so well. This is a film of great caliber and I wish that kids would give this a chance with open minds. Yes this is almost 70 years old but it's better than any so called romantic epics that are coming out now.
This was movie making for the sheer love of movie making and with that comes a profit.
