Review of Gone with the Wind (1939) by Catarina C — 13 Nov 2015
I must be crazy for watching a four-hour film filled with an epic romance and endless misfortunes. Scarlett O'Hara is a heroine, yet, at the same time, undecisive, stubborn, annoying, and she plays the victim part very well.
She has the world (mainly men) on her palm. Rhett Butler is the one I identify most with. I forgive him for falling in love with Scarlett, for I wanted the most epic romance ever. And in the end, after so many disasters, he did the right choice.
The cinematography is the same as the romance: epic with its strong colours, and gritty and raw images of Civil War. The score fits the plot perfectly. The actors deliver great performances, even though I always find them too exagerated and forced.
