Review of Gone Girl (2014) by Themillz1988 — 13 Oct 2014
I absolutely loved 'Gone Girl'.
Part of me is still surprised at that. I think I had expected a film more similar in quality to Finchers 'The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo', than say his, 'The Social Network'. But this didn't just surpass my expectations, it blew them away.
The quality of the film is undoubtedly of a very high standard all round, but I feel special credit has to go to the casting. An element of film-making that is probably often forgotten about to most viewers and it was absolutely spot on for this. I'm not normally a big fan of Ben Affleck for example, but he was perfect in this role, as were the rest of the cast.
I have to mention the incredible soundtrack by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, it's remained in my mind for days now, much like the film itself. It really is sheer perfection and reminds us just how much music can affect the experience.
