Review of Gone Girl (2014) by Valentin G — 11 Jul 2015
A smart and entrancing psychological thriller, this movie burst my mind like no other in a brilliant way. A good cinematographic adaptation.
Gone Girl is the story of Nick Dunne, who in the first wedding anniversary lost his wife Amy, this without a trace disappears. Police began an investigation, but it is thanks to several flashbacks that we realize that both Amy and Nick lie, the intrigue is very present during whole time until we were able to discover what is really happening.
This film is directed by David Fincher, one of the most original and innovative directors in the last years, here present to us a very well constructed story, although a little more dark than normal. We must bear in mind that Fincher movies are not easy to understand, therefore are not for everyone.
Ben Affleck is pretty convincing but nothing special, the real extraordinary fact of this picture is Rosamund Pike, definetly the best performance by an actress of 2014.
This deserves to be seen, since it makes us see that there are similar cases in real life and also makes us give us has it easy that we judge people who we don't know only by their attitudes to a camera.
I'm sorry to say, but don't wait a happy ending because How many cases were completely resolved and in the right way?
