Gone Girl is a devilishly evil and nasty little thriller with and underlying sense of fear and dread lurking around every corner. I remember when the book come out that's all anybody could really talk about.

so, I went and picked up the book. I devoured it in 2 days. I couldn't get enough of Nick and Amy. and then I heard a movie was going to be made and David Fincher was going to be directing it, so I was on board already.

when I read the book I could picture these characters so clearly and vividly and when Ben Affleck was castes as Nick Dunne, it was the exact picture of how I thought Nick looked. Then Rosamund Pike was cast as Amy, while she looked very much like the part, she was a fairly unknown, so I wasn't sure about her acting talents.

But as I was watching the movie their performances came to life in front on my eyes and these complex characters leaped off the page and onto the screen right before my eyes. Ben Affleck gives one of his most impressive performances to date as the unaware, indifferent Nick Dunne.

after falling under the public eye very recently as the announcement of him playing Batman came to light, and just as Nick experiences with the media in the film, they can be nosy, manipulative, and twist things around just like what happened with Affleck in real life.

all that translates extremely well into screen as when Nick is hammered and judged by the media. I though Ben Affleck was a perfect choice to okay Nick Dunne and he filled the role extremely well. and now let's talk about the real scene stealer here: Rosamund Pike.

I saw her in Jack Reacher, and while she was good in that, she didn't really shine. however, in Gone Girl, he talent is shown in full form here and she gives one of the best performances I saw on screen in 2014 if not in many years.

Amy Dunne is a venomous, psychotic, damaged, and essentially evil human being and Rosaumd Pike pulls it off flawlessly. I don't think there could have been anyone else to play Amy as well as she did, she completely embodied the role and absolutely killed it.

I will see anything else that she is in because of this film. she guaranteed her star power in Hollywood with this Film, and guaranteed the spot as the token crazy bitch. I still can't get over how amazing ( ;) ) she is in this movie.

Tyler Perry really surprised me in this movie. he actually gave a very good performance and which surprised the hell out of me. this shows that given the right thing he can actually do a really good job.

Kim Dickens and Carrie Coon were also excellent in this film. don't let them be outshined by the other actors here because they were truly fantastics in their roles. the acting talent involved in this film is on full force here and everybody shines in their roles.

I also though the script was an excellent adaptation of the already brilliant novel. mostly in part due to the fact the author of the novel wrote the script, which I think is an extremely smart move on the filmmakers part and I'm so glad she agreed to write it because all her writing talent translated into script form flawlessly and the way she writes worked perfectly for this script.

Now back to David Fincher. I don't think any other director was perfect enough to deal with this subject matter and certain themes. Fincher is known for dark and disturbing material and its on full effect here.

this is a perfect movie for Fincher to make due to the certain themes that is conveys, and Fincher brings his own unique and dark style to the film that works extremely well with this script. he kills it with this film and I was shocked he wasn't nominated (again) for Best Directing.

Also, the cinematography is absolutely stunning and beautiful. some of the shots in the film were so breathtakingly beautiful and visually dark and stunning. and the score is a magnetic, pulsating, eerie and haunting sound that is truly like nothing I have ever heard before.

Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross also got snubbed again for best score, because I think this is some of the best work they have ever done. this was my most anticipated film of 2014 and my expectations burst through the roof.

this was an almost flawless adaptation and I loved everything about it. Gone Girl is an overly intelligent and ingenious crime thriller that's a dark, sick, nasty, savage and an absolutely disturbing look into marriage, violence, and murder that works on every level imaginable My favorite film of 2014 and one of my favorite films ever, it's that good.
