Review of Gone Baby Gone (2007) by David L — 14 Aug 2011
During the opening credits, when you see the name Ben Affleck appear you only one thought "Oh great" but as you watch the film you truly see that this guy can direct a million times better than he can act.
He adds a little flair to the movie that no other director could have had. His little brother Casey shows his Beantown pride and becomes a Boston detective that you want to see do more cases and solve more who-done-its and cheer for, but the best performance in this whole movie is the lovely Amy Ryan giving it her all as a desperate mother that doesn't want to show her emotions and stay tough but as you see her breakdown you see how much she really cares about her daughter and would do anything to find her.
It's a thrilling movie without a happy ending and dark tone that will have you appreciating Affleck's new talent.
