Review of Gone Baby Gone (2007) by Aditya M — 29 Sep 2013
An absorbing and disturbing mystery/drama that was the first indication of Ben Affleck's stellar gift as a director. This is a film with characters that intrigue us, and, unlike most crime films, continue to surprise us until the very end.
They are brought to life by a riveting cast that features Casey Affleck and Michelle Monaghan putting in some of their best work. The always fantastic Ed Harris and Morgan Freeman lead a magnificent supporting cast.
Amy Ryan gives a standout performance playing the unsympathetic mother of a missing child, a role that won her a much-deserved Oscar nomination. This is an incredibly assured directorial debut by Ben Affleck.
