Review of Gone Baby Gone (2007) by Justin S — 02 Sep 2011
It definitely is a strong debut for Ben Affleck. Save for probably just Freeman and the younger Affleck, everyone else successfully disappears behind their characters. Freeman is far too recognizable nowadays.
With Casey Affleck, however, I think repeated viewings will show his character to be the only self-conscious one in the whole movie--a man who certainly isn't without moral vulnerabilities, but still actively strives to follow through with what he believes in, perhaps even down to the last shot.
On that point, I think the film is a success.
