Review of Gone Baby Gone (2007) by Nate G — 12 Apr 2012
Gone Baby Gone gets close to living up to it's hype, but wasn't quite THAT good. One thing that made Gone Baby Gone stand out was the setting which included the characters as part of the city of Boston.
This theme was very affectively executed. The peripheral characters were raw and real and very much just that- part of the surroundings. Casey Affleck had a solid performance in this movie, but probably could have been more convincing had his character not been insanely and blindly unafraid of anything.
The story was compelling and- although not the most original plot ever- was executed very nicely. It included some fairly unforeseen twists, as well as some that were more predictable. So, although not quite as good as advertised, Gone Baby Gone is a solid film with some really good ambiance that keeps the viewer entrenched in the story.
