Review of Gone Baby Gone (2007) by Kevin W — 23 Jun 2012
Just about everything you want from a gritty thriller. I would say the ending was predictable, but what I thought was going to be the outcome was still a revelation. A double whammy, if you will. Totally worth the haul, and very well acted.
A great ensemble of seasoned and new faces grace the screen in a realistic manner. I am constantly surprised at how my opinion of Ben Affleck changes from movie to movie. Good Will Hunting, exceptional, Deception a wordy self indulgent abortion, Armageddon complete pants (Michael Bay so what's new?), Gone Baby Gone quite brilliant.
It seems he rocks from one phase to another, but what is clear is he is very capable when the right material presents itself. Be aware that Morgan Freeman only appears briefly in this film if that's your main reason for engaging.
