Review of Gone Baby Gone (2007) by Bill C — 19 Nov 2012
A shocking, powerful emotional rollercoaster. With Ben Affleck in the director's seat, his brother Casey is allowed to shine in the lead role as Patrick Kenzie, a private investigator hired to help in the search of a missing child.
The film's pace is masterfully set to the actions of the characters (as it was in Mystic River) and the whole atmosphere of the movie is that of a disturbingly suspensful tone. The movie is extremely violent and graphic, which supports the movie's theme of self-morals and emotional strength.
The film's conclusion is probably one of the most somber in the history of Hollywood and will leave audiences shocked and deeply disheartened. A convincing cast and A-grade directing from Affleck leave this movie as one of the elite of 2007.
Not for the faint of heart.
